I am building a mini UDS and are wondering how far from the bottom should I put the grill.

I just placed mine just low enough from the top to get a pork shoulder in.

I put my grill about 3 inches from the top edge but I used a Weber Smokie Joe lid. Fit better than it did on the Smokie Joe Q.

what size barrel did you all use? to make a mini uds

14-1/2" round x 27" high . Drilled 3 holes on bottom . 1 1/2 ball valve 2 caps.

one open 3/4 hole and one 3/4 ball valve.
