Question Poultry Shears Recommendations Please

I have a pair of Sabatier Poultry Shears. They work great for cutting the Backbone and such for Chicken.

When it comes to cutting the excess skin off they are worthless so I have to use another cheap pair to cut the skin.

Is there a good suggestion for a one in all pair?

I bought a pair of Kitchenaide shears at Walmart and they have surprisingly done a great job.

Here is a link to Amazon... These are the same as the ones sold at Sam's club.

8" Titanium Chef's shear

The shears they sell at sam's in pairs (Titanium, made by Clauss) are great for comps. I believe they are branded as "Bakers & Chef's" now. I've had guys with $75 shears, come and borrow my $9 Sam's club set. They rock. Best part is, at $9, they are almost disposable. IF you lose them, damage them, etc. You dont feel nearly as bad as damaging the expensive ones. (been there, done that mod)

I actually enjoy hacking my poultry with a big, cheap meat cleaver I bought at Wal Mart. My wife says it's a little disturbing to see me grinning while holding that cleaver.

Local knife shop sharpens blades for next to nothin (a single $1) so the thing stays sharp.

Regarding the scissors...I have some of the plastic Henckels scissors, but they don't work so well on the breastbone. My buddy has a pair of the more expensive Henckels metal scissors and they seem to be quite a bit better.

I got bought a pair of shears with my Wusthoff cutlery set. For comps, I bought a pair of cheapies from Sam's club. I think they are the ones HoDeDo is talking about, except that mine came in a three pack. The ones from Sam's rule, and I like the better than the Wustohoff. Highly recommended. To me, the biggest thing is to make sure that they come apart for proper cleaning.

I've bought about 10 different kinds of chicken scissors. These one's from Sam's are the best. I agree. Plus, I now have a spare pair.

I picked up a pair of shears from IKEA for $2. Use them on everything, cloth, wire, paper, meat. They seem to hold up well and I know I have gotten my $2 out of them. I need to pick up another pair just for meat.

After owning high dollar shears my opinion is to buy cheap ones from Walmart. When they get dull buy a new pair.

Thanks All! I will check into the suggested ones. Funny, the pair that cuts the skin like butter is a cheap pair that was part of a knife and block set.
