Default The Marfa

I build one called The Marfa, it is quickly turning into my best seller. If what you want is a smoker and not as concerned about the grill, this unit is incredible. Low fuel use and easy to maintain temp.

Very cool, Beau.

Smokers are just like everything else. You never notice all the similar ones on the road until you get yours. Then you see them everywhere.

I had only seen a few like the style I am getting built but it seems that I just wasn't looking hard enough as it seems that most everyone makes a model like this ;)

Default Grease drain???

I am going to build a similar pit very soon. Do you have anyway to drain the grease or catch the grease? I assume there is a bridge to keep grease from draining into the firebox causing a fire.

Any input would be appreciated.

There will be a drain in the smokebox. I'll have finished pics next weekend.

I put the drain dead center of the upright and have a small ledge that blocks anything from running into the firebox. However I never let grease drip onto the bottom, I always have a cheap aluminum pan under whatever I am smoking.

I plan on using a pan as well. I do it now in my Kettle with or without water. It give me a nice place to dump my ash when I'm done ;)

I'll make sure I have a small ledge in my build. Thanks!

DUDE!!!
That is REALLY cool. I love it. The top of that lid looks like you've polished it to the point of it being near chrome like.

The only thing I see, is that little handle. I can picture myself grabbing that handle and trying to move that beast (that weighs a few multiples of me) and not getting very far before I run those 2"x2" legs throw my socks and slice major flesh. Your "lever" needs to be longer to get your feets and legs away from the sharp stuff.

Otherwise, that's a awesome rig. I need one.

I see what you mean, but I think it will be OK. I'll keep it in mind while getting it moved into place.
