Default event for 200

I have to figure up how many 7lb butts it will take to make pulled pork to feed 200. What is the best way to figure up the amount of meat to cook for diffrent size events. All I have to do is supply the meat, sauce, and buns for this event. Is there a mathmatical way of doing this?

Sure there is, but it depends on how much you are planning on for each person. For each 7lb butt you will net about 3.5 pounds of meat.

4oz per peron = 14-15 butts
6oz per person = 21-22 butts
8oz per person = 28-29 butts

So usually figure to get about half of what your butt weighs. 7 lb will get 3.5 lbs of meat.

Yes. Pork usually yeilds in the 65% range but using 50 as your yeild makes sure your covered.

Have done any reading on any forum? You should know your yield on any meat you want to sell.
