Seasoning these seems like it might be kind of a pain.

Meh, maybe it's just a typo

While I like the idea, it would be nice if they were maybe twice the size. Each piece by itself seems small and therefore would make it less stable on the grill. They do seem to be quite heavy duty though.

It'd be nice to have a few to sear steaks and chops on the kettle.

My concern is ..will they hold their seasoning with such high heats? maybe someone can answer that?

I ordered one those (http://www.cast-iron-grate.com/) and it is on the UPS truck for delivery today. I will post with results of the first cook with it. Seems like a much better product than the mangrate. Also the price isnt that bad when compared to the mangrate, the 2 mangrates will cost you $40 when you include shipping and the still wont cover your whole kettle. The "As Seen on TV" is usually a red flag anyhow IMO.

And lately anything "not available in stores" and "As Seen on TV" end up at WalMart in a few months...at a lower price...

Here is what is in my smokers.... 4 in each one.

they are cast iron, 19.75 inches by 6.75 inches wide.

I love them. And these are only $8.99 each plus S&H and I have found that they are real good on their shipping prices, and fast too.

All I do to keep mine going is to just brush them real good after getting them hot, and then just take a spray bottle with some veggie oil and spray them, throw on the meat and cook away. If they do get cruddy, I just throw them in the gasser, turn it on high and let them just "bake" away, reoil them and go again.
