Can Wood Pellet Smoker be Upgraded by a PID Thermostat
I just visit a few BBQ manufacturers in China, which are mainly OEM manufacturers for most common brand names here.
One even bought a sample from competitor, and made copies with a small modification. Two most common brand names of pellet smoker are indeed from same base and all are made in China But basic control is same. It has low, med. high fire, which is controlled by burning a few minutes and then stopping a few minutes. There are posts in other BBQ forum about pellet smokers. Main problem is big temperature fluactuation. It is very simply to upgrade the control system. A PID thermostat can make temperature very stable. And you can buy feeder kits from market, but change its control to PID thermostat, then you can turn your offset, or vertical cabinet smoker to a genuine pellet smoker. Do you think it is possible |

It's easy if DIY is your thing. PID, thermorcouple, SSR and some wires.
Might be more efficient to just buy the controller.http://www.auberins.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=110 I've built a controller for beer making, and while fun - it's not cheap. |

It is the kind, but not enough

Different temperature must have different match between blower and auger. I guess any electrician can DIY. |
