Ive had 2 new 55 gallon drums sitting in my garage for about a month and since we finally had a break in the Summer heat I figured today would be a good day to attempt and build my very first UDS. Ive been slowly gathering the parts over the past few weeks and had everything ready to go this morning. Here are a few pics. They are from my cellphone so they aren't that good. Let me say for the record that I have very limited skills working with tools and this was a breeze. I encourage anyone sitting on the fence worrying if they can do it to take the plunge.
3 - 3/4 intakes installed. Used ball valve on 2 of them and cap on the other
Got the grate installed. Used 3 - 1/4 - 2inch bolts
Lid and handle
Temp gauge installed
working on charcoal basket now. A friend offered to weld it so I might hang it up for today and take it over to her tomorrow.
