![]() Greetings farkers :)
I'm gonna cook two butts overnight Thursday night for a Friday evening meal. I need a good coleslaw recipe, preferably something along the lines of the southern sweet coleslaw variety... I'm also gonna serve up a batch of PatioDaddio's baked beans... any great suggestions for an additional side would be appreciated :) |

![]() We've had good comments on this KFC coleslaw clone from food.com.
http://www.food.com/recipe/authentic...al-thing-67284 On the other hand, I just bookmarked PatioDadio's recipe to give it a try! |

![]() This is an option.
Slaw, Coleslaw, Popeye's Once again their coleslaw is close to KFC's - this is the one that circulated for Popeye's: INGREDIENTS: In food processor, process: 1-2 Heads Cabbages 1/4 to 1/2 green pepper 1/4 to 1/2 small onion 1 medium to large carrot In bowl, mix until smooth: 2 cup Miracle Whip (you could use light or fat-free but the flavor is with the regular Miracle Whip) 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup white vinegar 1/4 cup vegetable oil Recipe Type Salad Recipe Source Author: Kitchen Witch Source: Ron Douglas, "America's Secret Recipes", 2006/08/27 Combine processed veggies with dressing (which should have a hint of sweetness to it). KFC Cole Slaw recipes/clones call for milk/buttermilk or horseradish with the addition of salt and pepper. |

![]() Pattio Daddios (John) slaw is really good. I would not consider it on the sweet side but you could add more sugar, also make it a day in advance, the flavor is better.

![]() Tidewater Coleslaw
Recipe By : Thrill of the Grill by Chris Schlesinger 1 1/2 Cups mayonnaise 1/2 Cup white vinegar 1/3 Cup sugar 1 Tablespoon celery seed salt and pepper -- to taste 1 Head green cabbage -- finely shredded 2 carrots -- finely grated In a small bowl, blend the mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, celery seed, and salt and pepper to taste, and mix well. In a large bowl, combine the cabbage and carrots. Pour the dressing over the mixture and blend well. Refrigerate until serving time. I use 1/2 cup of sugar to make it a little sweeter.

![]() Here ya go:
Cranberry Apple coleslaw
· Directions: · Core the apples and cut them into long thin strips (sort of like a large matchstick) · In a large mixing bowl, combine the coleslaw mix, sliced apples, and cranberries. In a smaller mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, vinegar honey, mustard powder, and white pepper until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Pour the dressing over the coleslaw mixture and toss to combine. Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour prior to serving. Everyone I've served this slaw to raves about it. Fellow Brethren Bigmista's Pineapple coleslaw is also wonderful: 1 bag pre-shredded cabbage 1 can crushed pineapple 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar 2 tsp salt 2 tsp black pepper 1/4 cup brown sugar Pour the juice from pineapple into a bowl. Add the vinegar, salt, pepper and sugar. Mix and set aside. This is the dressing. Put the pineapple in a large bowl with the cabbage. Pour in the dressing and toss well. |

![]() Thanks for the recommendations. Slaw is generally an intensely personal
thing, so your kind words mean a lot. You can certainly sweeten it up with sugar. For some reason my Southwest Slaw recipe has been very popular online of late. I don't know which I like more. It depends which day you ask me. ![]() John |

![]() Here's my recipe that I posted in my appley butts thread. It definitely fits the description of creamy sweet slaw that you mentioned. It is fantastic with pulled pork:
