Just picked up a 30gal. grease drum/w liner, good price FREE. Need to know #of holes top and bottom. Do you put 1 or 2 cooking grates?

One cooking grate and two 3/4 intakes with four 3/4 exhaust.

I would like to size the exhaust down to 1/2" on the next one though and see if it slows things down perhaps even do the two intakes at 1/2"

thank you for the reply Dr. I'll try the 1/2", my motherenlaw has an 18" maybe she'll let me have it.

Dale, will a 30 gallon drum take an 18" Weber grate and Kettle top?
Been thinking about doing one.
My #2 Kamado with a 14" grate isn't really large enough for much.

Are you saying that size matters...

...when it comes to Ugly Drum Smokers of course.

Dale,
I've seen those small drums, they are way small. Is it worth it?

I think so.
