Dessert
Who has a dessert they would like to share that I could put on the charcoal grill right after the steaks come off and would cook on the grill as we are eating the steaks.
I see were Lodge sells several small cast irons that are in the 14 oz. or so size that would make a nice size to make an individual serving. I have been looking around but have not come up with anything. Thanks Guys, Don

Mmmmm man that sounds good. Mom use to make some type of Pineapple Cake that was out of this world.
What recipe would you use and how long would it take on the grill? Thanks, Don

Try this one:
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/a...ke-recipe.html Never done it on the grill, but it could only be delicious. The recipe says around 40 minutes @ 350* Let me know how it turns out, I may have to add it to my menu! |

40 minutes @ 350*....that's about right, they take a little less than most baking things......
I like AllRecipes for a start to stuff like this: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/old-fas...ide-down-cake/ Their's works fine adapted to a grill, no smoke for this, charcoal's plenty........... |

I would put two or three on the grill. Do you think 1 1/16 inch is deep enough? I will let you know how it comes out. Will take a while as I need to order the CI. Thanks Finzlft, Don

I was going to say cobbler too.
It works great on a covered grill. Get the fruit hot and bubbly, top with dabs of batter, cover and cook til brown. Here's a peach cobbler in my drum. Individual serving sized skillets would work. http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=170374 Just one more option!

I've cut large peaches in half, remove the pit, and put in a large ziplock bag. Put a cup of brandy, couple shakes of cinnamon, a tablespoon or two of brown sugar and tbs or two of melted butter. Leave in the bag for at least 30 minutes. Put cut side down on direct heat for 6 mins, turn over for another 6 minutes. Serve in a large coffee mug with a scoop of vanilla bean...really good

I would like to say thanks for all of the replies, and I am going to do a lot of experimenting. This weekend the better half had ideas of her own, so we tried them.
Here are a few photos of what came off the Webber. It was a Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Turned out great, but we need to use a bigger skillet or less batter. Enjoy and keep your dessert > cast iron >charcoal grill coming. There is just nothing like a hot dessert off the grill after a steak.
