Has anyone tried this?

Amazon says that the grate is about 15" diameter, but supposedly it is actually about 11.75". If it is a workable option for the SJ, I could also just set it on the grate for my OTG and Performer and get more use out of it.

In theory, it should work.

This is what it looks like pushed all the way back. If you center it, it actually doesn't look so small. It will do what you want it to do with the SJ. Personally, I was not crazy about the sear grate. It's extremely heavy duty and I almost think they made it too thick which made it difficult to heat up fully and get the sear marks I was hoping for but that purely a personal preference issue.

But it will definitely fit on the Joe. Hope this helps.
 
Thanks for the pic. I was thinking of using the CI grate in place of the cooking grate on the SJ, but your pic tells me that the grate would not be big enough.
