Downgrading to 18.5 WSM

I agree with newtwoq. If you're going to start competing, you should keep it. You'll find yourself wanting, or needing another one. It's a bit tricky to smoke different meats in a WSM when competing . Turn-in times vary and you're always making last minute adjustments prior to turn-in. For competition, if you can afford to have a WSM for each category, all you need to worry about is room for trophies. My ol' beat up 22" is my Brisket machine on cook offs.

I think do to value and cost of getting set up you would be best to keep your 22" (perfect size for briskets and long ribs) and try to pick up a used 18" or new if you can afford it. The 22" is big but still portable.
