If it was me I would get a Weber kettle (22" OTS at the minimum) and a Gasser. Most of the Dual purpose rigs don't do either well.

What the Dawg said. Weber is king for charcoal in my opinion. Give it an honest month of regular use and you'll forget all about the gasser. Especially if you get spoiled by the ease of the One Touch Gold with some hardwood lump charcoal. BTW, welcome to the forum!

All of the dual charcoal gas are pretty cheap and flimsy. The weber performer uses gas to light the charcoal and its one of the best grills on the market, definitely the best kettle.

Char-griller makes a decent dual grill like you are looking for...

You might check with Lowes for this...

Well this will be a great starter grill for ya. Try a Weber out though...even at a friends house or whatever. Once you go Weber im pretty sure there is no going back. Its a great brand, product...has been in use all over the world for years! Pick up a used one off Craigslist if you have to.

I've always viewed them as two different horses for two different courses, but you've got a versatile grill, there.

Pan frying, smoking, grilling. Enjoy it and post up pics of it in action !
