Default Pit Idea

My buddy wants to dig a pit. He wants it for a miriade of options. He'd like it for a fire-pit, a grill, pig cooker, and slow smoker. He's planning on fashioning a lid. His question is, should he line it? He was thinking river rock, or possibly half of a metal barrel.

Any help would be great. If it happens, I'll try to post building pron.

Matt

I used brick for my sides and concrete for the floor. It works great.

Depending on how you use it, lining with firebrick on the bottom and up the sides about 1/2 way would probably extent the lift of it a bit. But, YMMV!
