I will give CWBBQ a +1 on his way of communicating w/ judges something few contests do & should learn/put more emphasis on. I think that's a bad part to many contests & why there may be some judges that don't show up. There have been a couple of contests I applied to through the years but never heard they needed me or not or if they even got my app yet I heard through the grapevine that they were short of judges afterwards. Many more I've never heard a thing from at all but assume they had enough judges. If I had heard from them I would have been there as when I apply to judge to a contest, I am saying I'm willing to be there if you need me.

The most important word for both judges and organizers is "communication". Some organizers are great at this, some are very lacking in this respect.

Guess which organizers have the most problems getting and keeping judges.

Guess which judges have the most trouble getting a seat.
