FYI, a USPS Priority Mail® International Medium Flat Rate Box -- 13-5/8" x 11-7/8" x 3-3/8" or 11" x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", with a maximum weight 20 pounds, can be shipped to you for $32.95.

So, you could get a few cans to compare recipes to for under forty bucks.

Just a thought.

I think the recipe sounds great!
I love beans, with or without meat, it works for me!

Beans, beans, the magical fruit,
the more you eat, the more you toot,
the more you toot, the better you feel,
so let's have beans with every meal!

CD :becky:

"Beans, beans, good for the heart
boy oh boy do they make you fart,
When I was younger it was this way,
Now I'm older they make me shart all day"

I will take my chili with NO beans, and my Ranch Style beans with smoked sausage, and a tortilla to sop up the juice.

a) I had no clue that "Ranch Style Beans" were not sold in every grocery store in the US.
b) One way I use them: Whenever short on time and I am making canned refried beans I always add a can or two of ranch beans. Easy way to spruce up crappy rosarita beans. The kinds with Jalapenos or Onions work especially well for this.

I tried Lisa's Ranch Style bean recipe today and I have to say, I failed again! The recipe tastes great but my beans are hard. I soaked over night and cooked for four hours. I think I'm done with dried beans. Lisa's recipe is really good though.

I've never been able to cook pinto beans in 4 hours even after an overnight soak. 6-8 hours seems closer.
