Great pics in the video! That's BBQ, baby! Love it; no leftovers... No having to re-heat, no having to explain quality inconsistencies. Just BBQ, the way it is supposed to be done.

RIP

So sad. I just watched the following video a few days ago. It has several candid interviews with Ricky Parker.

Thanks for posting this video. A part of our culture that is dying off that I remember as a kid.

A bit of a long read, but an interesting story and insight about Ricky.

Good story about old time BBQ.

As a kid I helped my daddy feed coals to his old cinder block pit.
Ours was in our back yard under an old Black Walnut Tree.
The top to our pit was two old metal Piggly Wiggly signs.

We did Pigs/Pork Butts and some Goats.

I thought it was one of the greatest things ever.
I found out the hard way that it was lots of work.
Long hours of waiting and shoveling.

(Sometime while I was off in college, that old pit disappeared.)
