Default possibilities of a 26 inch kettle.

i have been looking at purchusing a kettle, but i want something i can really put some stuff on. so after looking around a little i found this http://www.homedepot.com/Outdoors-Gr...atalogId=10053 i actully went to the store and looked at it, and seemed to be built pretty well. at this price is it really a no brainer when compared to the weber 26.75 for $300? does anyone own one or been around one. pros or cons

If it suits your needs, and don't mind buying one every couple years, go for it. But you pay for the quality. Weber's warranty is longer than that thing would ever last.

no experience with that particular grill, but I have NOT been happy with any other "Masterbuilt" products at HD.

I think this is a case of Caveat Empor, or Let the buyer beware.

I bought it's smaller brother just so I would have a dome type lid for my UDS until I could find a donor Weber Kettle lid. Rest of the grill is just sitting there collecting dust. I have a Weber Kettle that is 16 Yrs. old that I can still grill on.

definitely NOT a 'no brainer'

when you're replacing that thing every 3 years, the webers people bought 10 years ago are still solid.

I find two 22" webers more convenient and cheaper than a single 26"

You get what you pay for definitely applies here. I'd spend the extra cash on the 26.5" Weber kettle if I were you. It ain't cheap, but it will last you 25+ years. BTW, my mother bought a generic brand gas grill from Lowes a few years ago for $300 and within two weeks it started rusting. I should also mention that it was under a water proof cover the entire time and hadn't even been used yet.

i was leaning more toward the weber 26.75 until i was walking through the depot yesturday and saw the masterbuilt sitting there for 80 bucks. i asked the clerk, and he said it was a normal price. i almost bought it, but decided to research it first. another problem that could happen is mb could discontinue, and there would be no way to get replacement parts like the grate since its 26 and the weber is 26.75. well the majority rules the weber it is

the most expensive thing you can do is to buy something thats cheap in price and build.

Total junk. Spend the $$ and only shed a tear once. You'll have it for life.

I have a 26.75 weber and love it. Pay the money once and don't look back.

Agree with others..go for a Weber. Even consider craigslist. I had a chance last year to pick up a 26.75 Weber for $25 or so in Amazing shape, but passed on it. Wife said I had enough grills.Should have got it anyway and brought it in in middle of night..LOL

I like the fact that it has four legs and should be more stable than its tripod counterpart but any gains in stability will likely be overshadowed by poor over all quality. I've been wanting to make a more stable base for my old wobbly silver and this gives me a great idea.
