I'm thinking of buying a used kettle off of CL and giving it a custom paint job. Surprising but there dose not seem to be a lot of custom painted Weber kettles out there. Anyone have some expierence or photos with this?

I read the other day on a thread here that it is porcelain coated and the paint won't stick to it.

I have had success painting the lids by stripping the paint with something like this, then painting over the porcelain.

What he said. ^^ Did it to a really old top to a kettle. It now is a thing of beauty sitting atop my drum. Pics.

Experiment stage

It has held up really well for a couple of years but it is not exposed to the elements OR the high heat from being on a grill.
