If you're talking about the brownish liquid, that the dries and flakes off, yeah, I have that problem.

The foil trick only works for the black high temp chit, but the soot stuff has been a problem with mine from Day 1.

Search Flaking on the WSM and you'll find a thread or two that still have no answers for me.

Oven cleaner works on all that stuff and will not damage the porcelain coating. However, don't get it on the aluminum parts because it will eat the shiny finish off and leave it dull looking.

Go to an ACE store and talk to the manager. He might match Amazon's price. Always ask for 10% off any big purchase. You'll be suprised how many places will do it.
