The Texans that put beans in their chili, are more than likely Yankee transplants. From the rule book of
the Terlingua Chili Cookoff:
"3. No beans, pasta, rice or other similar items are allowed."

Them's fightin' words, padnuh.

Born in Houston, live in Houston. ALWAYS put beans in my chili. But a good Texan is all about hospitality, so it's easy enough to cook them up on the side and allow folks some modicum of choice.

When cars were first made, they didn't have any A/C. That doesn't mean we should all drive around in the Summer sweating like a hog.
