Well I've moved to Indy to get closer to family and am leaving the capital of BBQ. Finding ppl that smoke with in KC was easy. Anybody in the Indy area big into smoking? Any good BBQ shops I should know about?

Sadly, no "amazing" BBQ shops around here. Lots of BBQ guys though. Check out Big Hoffa's BBQ in Westfield. Its pretty solid.

Triple Play BBQ is a little further south in Franklin, head pitmaster there is a fellow Brethren

Hello! I have a food truck (trailer) we just opened up: Black Metal BBQ. We also do a few competitions a year around here. Next one is in Franklin in June.

As far as restaurants, I don't frequent any too much as i get my fill of bbq at home/work. I do like Hank's Smoked Briskets on MLK. Small carryout spot. There are a few BBQ food trucks roaming around including ours.

Would be down to hang, smoke, and have some beers sometime. welcome to Indy! It really is a great city.

I'm with most of you...hard to eat BBQ out when I cook it better at home! My humble opinion... Black Diamond located on Binford is good. King Ribs been around longer than anyone and GT Souths as well. All locally owned. Welcome to Indy!

Indy BBQ

You should try Squealers in Mooresville. Pretty good spot. Jeff, the owner is a competition cook. We tried it a few years back and everyone we've recommended gave great reviews. Try the deep fried ribs.

I have been to Indy many, many times. I have a ton of family there. Can't say I've had good Q or know of good shops.

This is a bit off topic from what you're asking, but some places I like and thought I'd share.....

German - The Jäegerschnitzel is lights out. Good beer too.

Drive In - flash your lights so the car hop comes up to get your order. Fried Pork Tenderloin and a large root beer.

Pizza - Jockamo - our go to close to my SIL's house.

Deli - Shapiro's - come hungry, everything is good, but corned beef and pastrami is oh so good.....

I had a project that took me up there several times. The first trip we discovered the Fort Ben Pub. It's nothing fancy, but the food was always really really solid. Ate there every night for a week. 2 of us split an order of sweet and spicy wings each night, and then would get whatever the special of the night was.

I have worked with that coworker countless times over the years, in numerous cities. There are probably less than 10 places that we've gone back to more than once. This place has had us 'make up' jobs in the area, and I've detoured on trips home to go and get the wings.
