I throw my sweet potatoes in my firebox.. opposite the fire.. with Cinnamom and sugar wrapped in foil.. No smoke flavor.. but.. i can cook the meat and sides all with the same fire

I just wash the outside, pierce 2 times on each side with a paring knife and toss onto the grate. Not a huge amount of smoke but they turn out just fine. We split, mash and put a bit of butter on them with a bit of salt and pepper.

I smoke 'em till their soft, scoop 'em into a big bowl, add a little brown sugar, butter, garlic, chipotle, and some chopped pecans.
