Too good to be true? Pitts & Spitts

Nice looking pit.
You might want to just clean it up and oil it down after she comes to temp.
It doesn't look like it needs to be repainted.

Took a fine wire cup on my drill to it today and I'm thinking you're right. Looks like I got all the years of grime off and its just down to the original paint now. Except for a couple spots where there was rust and I took it to bare metal. Gonna skip the paint and just fire this girl up next weekend. Can't wait!!!

Got the first round of spit-shining done. Skipped the paint. Hit it with a fine wire cup brush to knock off the junk from 20 years. Now I'm just planning on getting the grates sand blasted as they're pretty funky. After I started shining it up I started getting a sinking feeling in my gut about selling it, which was the plan. I'm back on the fence now...

You have to keep that pit until you find a better deal. Which I don't think you will any time soon. It looks great now. The Stainless makes it look better than most offset pits. For $200.00 you might find a thin crappy new New Braunfels Offset.

Your better half would keep a set of china, purse, or a KitchenAid Mixer(my wife: $30.00) that she found on CL for an unbelievable price.

BTW, say hello to your "buddy" Craig. :mmph:

Don't know if you happened to find this as you cleaned it. The build date is stamped into the the black pit (rear left side top just where the stainless top rests).
I got a better deal on mine - I won it from a Houston Ford dealer 9 or 10 years ago.
