OK... This is probably a dangerous thing to do... :)

I have a couple of Cabela's gift certificates from Christmas, and I am thinking of buying a meat grinder for sausage making. Do any of you make sausage?

Is a grinder like this...

good enough for home use, or should I look at a heavier duty grinder? What else whould I have? Primarily, i want to make polich sausage. I have my grandfather's recipe and I'd like to be able to make it for holidays, etc.

Thanks!

Several of us do. Search the forum for sausage making/grinding.

Last time I spent time grinding sausage, MrsMista ended up pregnant.

Sorry. Couldn't pass it up.

400-watt ain't much power for a "heavy-duty" grinder. Power is needed for torqueing through gristle. Personally, I'd go this way (size 22 or 32) and add an v-belted external motor if you really want to produce in volume.

You'll also need a stuffer. Browse ebay for an idea of options available.
