It depends on how much salt. No salt, it will be blah, too much salt, and you are cooking like Poobah. Choose your extremity.

Interesting that you chose a tri-tip to brine. I've never heard of anyone brining beef before. Have you done this successfully?

Did brining the beef turn it into something nasty....Or..was it the combination of the brine and a marinade?
