I need some brethren recommendations for a high quality thermometer- Specifically a remote unit with a probe I can set into the barrel and monitor the ambient with great accuracy. Im runniing a couple units now and im getting vastly different readings across three probes...not good.

Thanks

I think there is quite a few of us that use the Maverick ET-73.

My only complaint about it is the range can be limited for the remote, but there are some mods that are available that can increase the range. You can read about the mods in this thread:

Also, be sure to check your accuracy by sticking the probe in boiling water and comparing it to the temperature that water boils at your elevation. You can read about that here:

Thermometers are for fried foods. Joke

Use "sound" to tell you what your pit is doing. (serious)

Barbefunkoramaque says stuff like that all the time, but someone got a pic of his rig at his last comp:

I use the ET-73 all the time to monitor my pit and meat temps...it's a little quirky (on off switch location) but works great!

Here's Snoqualmiesmoker's set up...:p He's running stokers...

Yeah, that pic came from Thirdeye. Dunno if he took it himself or what, but I stole it from him.

I just bought a maverick ET-73. It works great, and is very easy to use. I highly recommend it.

i have a maverick, and really like it. some say the receiver doesn't go very far, but i think mine does a great job :p:p
