Here is a list of thermometer websites. I have the NuTemp remote setup, and I love it. However, I thought it would be nice to have an easy to use resource to find info if you are new to smoking, or just wanted to upgrade. Also, I will add info as I come across it, or just post and I will add. If you want Mr. Moderator, you could make this a sticky.

What do you think of the NuTemp probes, I have the weber wireless but it seems like all probes are garbage.I wash them by hand and i don`t fold them, and i don`t let them near the high heat.

NuTemps are great. I've got the base with 3 wireless units. One unit seems to be going bad, but NuTemp said to send it back, and they'll send me a replacement. I've been through a couple other cheaper brands, and am 100% satisfied with these.

Also got a super fast Thermapen for father's Day. It's great also. I use it all the time in the kitchen also.

Good one Noah!

Always helpin out, Darn good thread idea

Excellent Noah !! Thanks... You might want to add this you your list.

Oregon Scientific makes a remote BBQ meat thermomter...(only measures to 200 deg. so it's great for meat but not for pit temps in the WSM etc.)

I have a Thermapen. It is excellent. I use to Taylor candy thermometers in the WSM's in the top vents. I have a Nu-Temp with three wireless sensors too but have not used them yet.

I have an observation. The Pampered Chef model is a THERMO-tech brand that is available at Kitchen Collection, Linen and Things and a Im sure a bunch more retail outlets. I have bought 3 of them, and I find they read about 3 degrees cool after you pass 80 degrees. I used my first one in homebrewing to measure the sparge temp of my water and also the boil. They work fine, but the probes go bad after awhile. I think I screwed up one of them cleaning the probe. They only run 15-18 bucks locally. Pampered Chef is a ripoff at 39 bucks.

You da man Noah! As my boss says: this extra work youve done is appreciated and wont get overlooked. Uh huh.

Made this thread a sticky good stuff here.

it seems like all probes are garbage.

They are definitely the weak link in the systems. Unfortunately for improvement, you'd be asking the mfgr's to give up the only reason you're going to have for spending more $$ with them after your initial purchase. Bet that doesn't happen.
When you buy a digital therm, you need to understand the probes are not lifetime items and will need periodic replacement. That's why I value my collection of analog leave in's. I've never had to replace a battery or probe on one yet.

Got the same setup (base and three wireless units) for christmas and was playing with them tonight. I can't wait to take them for a test run!

One question, though. How often do y'all have to change the batteries since you can't turn them off? I was planning to using these for exclusive competitions but it's a pain getting to the batteries.
