Man, I know I'm late to the party, but I freaking love my new hobby! This UDS was broken in for the first time this last weekend, and my mouth is still drooling thinking about that pork! The wings on the bottom rack got a little hot, but the taste was right. One more thing, I have to say that Steve Curry from Spicewine is one of the nicest dudes in the business from my very limited experience. He's just down the road, but he's always good for advice and shooting the bull about bbq in general.
Getting that ultra high heat paint job - logo...

First Cook...set for 190.

And the pulled pork

Wings and shoulder...

At the risk of sounding like I'm giving an acceptance speach, I also really want to thank the web admins, Norco, and all the other incredible contributors to this site for the infinite amount of wisdom I've collected since joining. This community is fantastic! Cheers to you folks!!!

This is my first U.D.S. I have already cooked 3 pork Butts and couple of chickens. The ash pan which is detachable, is from a Dollar Store table top 14" grill and the rack on the side is cut from the same cheap grill grate. It is where I place my electronic temp gauge, the handles are also from the same Dollar Store grill ($14.00) The pull latches that hold the lid on were ordered from Amazon

This vent I cut from 6x18" aluminum sheet from Home Depot

Built my first last night, not done yet but we're getting there. I've got about eighty dollars in materials so far, that's including the drum. Not bad.

My 4 year old helped tape it off and paint it, her design and color choice, I think it turned out great!
