Got an odd idea about injecting

Ok, I know some people like injecting butts or whatever, never done it, but I had an odd idea. For meats that dry out pretty easily on the grill/smoker, could you set up a injection (with a long tube to avoid meltage :O) while the meat cooks, so instead of basting every hour you inject? Hahaha, I have no idea if this would do anything.
 
It would only affect an area about an inch por two in diameter around the injector. Here's another bizarre idea though... we have drip watering systems forgardens, why not a timer controlled baste spray system?
 
Like a meat IV? Would you have to have a PhB in order to do that? Hehehee
