Default Green leaf lettuce?

I try to refrain from posting in the competition forum so I ask this question here.
What is green leaf lettuce? This is a serious question. Here in Minnesota we have Iceberg lettuce, and then all of the other fru fru stuff in the produce section. I know this sounds dumb, but then so am I. I just need to know.

Actually iceburg lettuce is green leaf lettuce as well according to KCBS standards. It can't be red-tipped green leaf lettuce though. And no kale, endive, etc. that aren't considered lettuce.

Go to this web site there is a pic of both green leaf lettuce and red tipped green leaf lettuce.

Good example of each there.

Yeah, that's the stuff you want to use, not iceberg.

I would never use iceburg myself but I was just clarifying that iceburg technically (or not technically) is legal as well.

I appreciate and understand that Jeff. That is what I was asking.

I always referred to green leaf lettuce as "hippie lettuce" lol. Don't know why really but that's how I remember it. It's the stuff you get in a salad at a fancy restaraunt as opposed to iceberg in a salad from Pizza Hut.
