Would I be correct in thinking one of these is about equivalent in quality, interrior space and ability to an ECB or are they worse/better?:?:

I have one of those. I got it frmo Home Depot for less than $30.00 around the begining of june. Good capacity, but you will always want bigger. Great to take camping, if it breaks, no biggie, it was only 30 bucks.

I have one. It takes a little time to figure out how to cook on but it is a good starter. I got mine for about $35.00. You can get it much cheaper than that one. You can do a couple butts plus a little bit more at one time.

Thanks for the replies guys. There's one on Ebay but I think I'll concentrate my effort on my multi-propane cylinder deluxe model:-D

We are pretty stuck for choice the UK.

You've got three main choices:

The Pro-Q Frontier (http://www.probbq.co.uk/ProQ%20Frontier.html) ~£159
The Weber Smokey Mountain http://www.theonlinegardener.com/product.asp?prod=1000224 ~£220
Brinkman Gourmet (they also do a more expensive vertical ~£200) http://www.thebbq.co.uk/item/gourmet_barbecue_and_smoker/ ~£100

They are all expensive, I asked for advice here and was recommended the WSM, I would repeat that advice if asked. You'll save in the long run with the cost of charcoal (it burns less, don't forget to start stocking up, the supermarkets and hardware stores will soon stop stocking it and you'll end up having to get lump from a garage [gas station]). You'll also screw up less bbq saving money on less wasted meat!!!! :-D
