Hi everyone. I'm Ashton. I'm pretty new to the BBQ circuit but i'm marrying into a family with quite the BBQ reputation so I figured i'd better learn. We usually smoke on The Good One heritage at home but for the comps we use The Good One Heritage, Marshall and Pit Boss. I'm mainly hoping to learn sides/desserts as my Fiance and I will be getting into the competition circuit this upcoming year. Thanks for having me!

Welcome, Ashton. You will certainly learn your share in this place. Congrats (I think) on jumping in to the crazy world of competition BBQ. Definite congrats on the upcoming marriage and remember, it sounds like she is the pit boss, so that means SHE is in charge. MY wife doesn't cook BBQ but she is still the pit boss here (haven't quite figured that one out, yet). Hope you enjoy yourself here and on the circuit.

Ron,
I am the she! My fiance grew up watching his dad, grandpa, and grandma compete. From being crowned Grand Champion at the Royal four years in a row to also being Grand Champion at Jack Daniels, he was there for it all. Then competed himself all growing up! I'm currently doing the turn in boxes (which are NOT going so well for me). But, with the knowledge between my future father in law and my fiance, I'm hoping to grasp on quickly!

Sorry Ashton, not the first time my assumption has gotten me into trouble. You can still be the pit boss. Turn in boxes are one of those time consuming necessary evils, but you will get the hang of it.

That’s quite a lineage you are getting into. Hope you’re ready for the life cause for teams like that’s it’s a lifestyle! You’ll make some great friends and eat great food along the way.

Please don’t let the Neanderthals here scare ya. We have a few women here (like cowgirl) who are by far among the best cooks and most knowledgeable members.

Pretty soon we will all be coming to you for advice

Welcome from across the state!
