Default Sunday Night Pizzas

We had a friend over the other night, and wanted something fun and easy, so pizza seemed a logical choice. I decided on two pies: Sausage & sage, and a traditional Margherita pie.

I cooked the pizza in my FrankenWeber Pizza Kettle(If you want to know about this build, just see the link in my signature) using Trader Joe's pizza dough and a batch of my homemade sauce.

I built the sausage and sage pie first:

Then into the pizza kettle:

When that was done, I built the Margherita pie - didn;t get a pic of that precook, but here it is in the kettle:

Margherita just out of the cooker:

Then added some fresh basil:

Sausage & sage pizza:

Nice pies! We use Trader Joe's dough quite a bit. It's pretty good, and faster than making dough from scratch!

Those pizzas are killing me. So fantastic. Every time I kick myself for not using my cooker more.

I need to get some dough from Sam's to try this. I think they sell them individually. Great looking pies! San Antonio is getting a Trader Joe's btw just not sure when

Man, that looks good. Is the Trader Joes dough frozen or a dry mix?

Neither - it's fresh. Frankly, it's better than some of my own homemade doughs, and is very convenient.

Here's a link to a pizza tutorial I did using store bought dough.

I haven't tried Trader Joe's dough yet but I do usually use dough from Whole Foods. It is convenient and fairly inexpensive. I would like to make my own dough but without planning and extra time, picking up some fresh, pre-made dough is the way to go.

Nice pies! I confess to being inept when it comes to making dough so I'll have to try the Whole Foods stuff since there's no Trader Joe's I'm aware of in my area.

As a guy whose got some pizza skills I give Moose a big thumbs up. Nice looking pies. You may run into a pizza snob who will challenge the margarita pie as not being authentic, as it should be sauce, fresh mutz and basil, the purpose being to mirror the colors of the Italian flag. What you have there is a tomato pie, which is fine and looks terrific.

I may actually try the sausage and sage combo.

If you'd like to try one that always goes over well in my house is sliced ham, black olives and broccoli.
