/*/*/*/ North Texas Brethren Spring Bash - April 12th, 2014 \*\*\*\

Which site type did you get? Walk up (no water / electric) or Drive up (with water / electric)?

They all list either grill or fire ring. IME, they usually have both or the fire ring can be cooked on. Check it out and give me a ring if you need any supplies and you can come check out what I got at my campsite. I have some cooking grates in my camping gear.

At Isle du Bois, they have fire rings with hinged cooking grates. At least that is all I have ever seen there.

I can do a brisket if somebody has some extra space in a smoker (prefer hot & fast temps 275-325 but beggars can't be choosers).

I'll have room on Colt for whoever/whatever and he will be hot early.

I am not camping, but I will be there early in the morning (shooting for around 7:30) to help prep and haul equipment if needed... and eat breakfast of course. :)

We are getting pumped up!

You sure can! I like to cook hot and hast, so your temp range is right up my alley. I have a fresh bag of Stubbs and a 1/3 of a chute in the hole so I think it will be OK even if I cook dinner on him on Friday, but I may pick up a reserve bag just in case. If you wanna use Pecan chunks for the brisket, I don't think I have any, so just bring them ;) I think that will work well for the fattys and lamb loaf also.

I think hickory is what I have the most of in my bucket.

It looks like frognot has a good cooker setup for brisket, but just to cover all the bases, you can borrow my 18.5 WSM and iQue120, if you want to.

That goes for any of the local brethren. Just pick it up, and bring it back like it was when you got it.

Dave's meat is as cold as ice and in my fridge...poor guy. Gotta be rough being separated from your meat like that :wink:

Looking forward to prep and packing tomorrow. :-D

I'm going to do a brisket and either 2 or 3 racks of spares, depends on what looks good when I go shopping after work tomorrow.

Brisket will be with Redneck Cooker's rubs and Butcher BBQ injection, ribs will be my homemade competition-knockoff-style, i.e. stealing competition techniques but making them easy, both are the way I cook for my friends at home.

Anybody wants to shig is more than welcome to.

That sounds great, Dave! Can't wait to try it all!!!!

We should have all our stuff gathered tonight and just have to load the coolers, cooker, and gear tomorrow when Tasha's dad shows up with the trailer. Hoping to be out of the house before noon.

Okay, what is being considered the "main meal" on Saturday of this bash? Is it lunch? Is it dinner? Is it all of the above?
