old at grilling new to smoking

just want to do it as a hobbie so i'am a rookie at this. I'am from east tenn a little plase called morristown just bought BSKD (AKA BRINKMANN SMOKE KING DELUXE).any you modified brndera have mods for me hope to start my first smoke this weekend. so any info would be helpful how much char, wood to use to smoke a 10LB butt.
 
Welcome tnbbq, good luck with the cook, 10 hrs @ 250 should get you close.
 
Welcome, the BSKD is just a left handed Bandera. I cook with straight oak on mine most of the time. Be prepared, they eat a lot of wood.

Also remember, it's not the quantity of smoke but the quality... Look for the thin blue!
