Default Another edition of "Rate My Boxes"

I helped a friend out at Belair this weekend by being the "box man"
Let me know what you think and I'll post the actual results in a bit
Chicken

Ribs

Pork

Brisket

On the brisket I know there is too much green - my bud cut the brisket a little short. There were no ends in the box because they were salt licks.

All the boxes look good, but I would say more meat, less green. The veg is an accent, but there is so much that it threatens to become the main event in a few of the boxes.

The meat is sitting down inside the garnish instead of on top. That makes it even worse that there is not enough meat in the boxes.
Chicken 8
Ribs look very good. 8-9
Pork chunks look better than cubes 6-7
Trim the brisket to length before it's cooked, not after. Try to match your slices better. - 6

It's funny, when you saw the boxes live, the green wasn't nearly as dominating as it is in the 2 dimensional pictures. When I first looked at the pics I went "Did I use that much parsley?!?"

To me...a perfect box is a 9....come close...you get a 8 from me....

put in the effort...you get at least a 7!!!!

Chicken look great not perfect; Ribs the same; Pork looks ok, the lighter piece are not pleasing to the eye; The brisket looks like half slices and too much greens that are not even.

8 8 6 7. Chicken a little small; too much green. Ribs very good, but cut be cleaner/
same, not quite a 9, but very close. Pork, to me it's just not appetizing. For ME, too
much shine, a little too black on parts, and honestly I'd look for/want a lot of pulled
pork; sliced just doesnt do it for me. This may be a regional thing. Brisket, looks ok,
but small to the point of being VERY small. Larger slices.

Can you elaborate on that a little? When you say not clean do you mean not perpendicular to the surface of the meat?

In ribs, some wide cuts, some slimmer cuts. One of the top ribs appears (could be
photo) as though some of the inside of the rib is rolled out. Also, like others, really
too much green hiding ribs. Either less green, or more ribs. It's close to a 9, but
not perfect. I understand the guys that give it a 9, and I understand the 8. I couldnt
see anything less than an 8.

In the chicken box you can see the lettuce underneath, the ribs look really good but it looks like there are brush marks on them, the pork looks really juicy and good but everything is a tad too "square", the brisket is the best looking one I think but it definitely needs to fill the box more. The one thing that stood out was the parsley in all the boxes. My personal preference is to have it lower so the meat "pops" more. Then again, I've only been in one comp and have never judged. I do really like the color of everything though.

Rib box is my favorite as the color looks perfect to me. I would judge appearance 7, 9, 9, 7
