Will be staying downtown on W. Monroe. Any good places to eat in the area? Non Q is great!
Thanks.

Try Fogo de Chao. Its a Brazilian Steakhouse. Great food and great service. Grand Luxe is a large restaurant down on Michigan Ave great for lunch. Can be a bit of a wait sometimes. Couple of my favorites, enjoy. If you are looking for a good blues club later I recomend Buddy Guys Legends right on Wabash.

My #1 place is Geno's East for deep dish pizza. Best in the world.

As Bill said, there are a bunch of choices. If you want to get some ideas go to the Chicago foodie forum...
http://www.lthforum.com/bb/viewforum.php?f=14 Also, if you can give us some favorite cuisines we can give you some better suggestions.

When I travel I like to try local places; Fogo de Chao is a chain, so I'll pass on it. A friend made these suggestions; Berghoff, Heaven on Seven, and Santorini along with some others. I would like places that are reasonably close to where I am staying, but have good food. A good beer selection would also be great. Thanks for the suggestions so far.
Have any of you tried Honky Tonk Barbecue on 18th?

BillM has tried Honkey Tonk and I beleive gave it some favorable mentions. Its been a while since I read his review of that place.
Check out Ron's post above on Chicago Food site. Its really a great resource. You willing to take a cab? Your 10-15 minutes from everything from Chinatown, to Greektown, to River North/Lincoln Park, but you are staying in the heart of downtown. Very little local, and a hell of alot of tourist traps and chains. Honkey Tonk is in Pilsen neighborhood, currently being gentrified back to upscale. Al's Italian Beef is over on Taylor in Little Italy, then you have Maxwell Street/approx 12th (Roosevelt) right there to take the Chicago Polish challenge. Manny's (mentioned above) is also right there, just a little east (closer to downtown/Lake) and then Buddy Guys (again above) brings you right back to South Loop. Chinatown is like 5 minutes south from these locales, which opens up another whole selection of whether you want Mandarin, Thai, Cantonese, etc. You can get the real deal at alot of places, not the beef chop suey American goop crap that passes as Chinese food for most people. Have not even left the Near South neighborhood at this point. There's a whole nother world of Indian/Eastern European up North, southern and Soul food on the south and west sides, second largest mexican population in the US outside Souther California also means we have an awesome selection of mexican (and latin american) places. Gene & Geiorgetti's is Family steakhouse within walking distance of where you are staying. Capital F in Family was intentional here, as historically it has had a certain clientele who have frequented it. And for good reason. Even mob guys like kick ass steaks! So we need more info, like Ron said. Saying "non chains" or "local places" narrows it down to about 5,000

It also depends on how far west on Monroe. Italian village is at 71 W. Monroe and is a long time downtown staple. Carmichael's is a good steakhouse at 1052W. Monroe.
You are also within walking distance of two different Intelligentsia Coffee locations, the one at 53 E. Randolph is bigger and more modern and the one in the Monadnock Building at 53 W. Jackson is in a historic landmark building. Great coffee either way. For breakfast you should check out Lout Mitchell's if you have time. (565 W. Jackson). Good breakfast but always crowded.

I love Rosebuds and they have a great menu. Too bad you cant take a trip west a bit for Gene & Judes Hot Dogs which is the best dog in the city IMO.

Thanks all. Too many choices and too little time...
I am going to try to hit Heaven on Seven to try the gumbo early Tuesday evening and then head up to see if I can get a single ticket for the Cubs vs Rockies. Wednesday I am going to go to Honky Tonk and visit with Willie. Thursday I am staying out near Midway airport as I am flying out Friday morning. Any suggestions close to MDW would be appreciated, but I am not expecting anything around there but chains like Fridays, Chillis, etc.

I would also suggest hitting the orignal Heaven on Seven on South Wabash over the other locations if possible(although they are not open in the evening
