I got mine in the big pappa smoker kit. How do you know if you can calibrate it? If not, where and what is a good one to buy for a UDS?

If it is the kind with a round dial and a stem on the back there should be a hex nut that you turn to calibrate it. If not, get a TelTru.

If you cannot calibrate you can at least check with boiling water.
If you are at altitude, you may need to adjust for that.

Google River Country Thermometers, they make a pretty decent thermo, adjustable as well. I put a 2" model in the lid of my uds. It hit 212 right on the button in boiling water. Good luck.
