My only question is... is the firebox large enough to feed that cooker. Pics can be deceiveing. It looks really small. I am not being critical at all you have a nice cooker going it is only an observation

Not sure what a tuning plate is? Is it like building a reverse flow, but with holes throughout?

Tuning plates are metal plates in the bottom that let you direct the heat where you want it. I hope someone chimes in cause Im not good at explaining things

Firebox looks a little thin.. make sure when you get her done... always to clean the ashes out of her.. it will help it last longer!

Tuning plates are sort of like a Reverse flow plate with gaps in it to allow the heat/smoke to come thru between the gaps.. they are ideal on traditional offset smokers because it helps even out the tempurature across the smoking chamber.

Ya the fire box is a little thin bit I'm going to line the bottom of it with fire brick and make a heat shield on the top, on the inside. Intheory the heat shield will direct more heat to the cook chamber and less heat loss

I too question the throat size between the FB and cooking chamber. Also the pictures look like the FB is mounted to low on the tank. This is based on my experience building reverse flow offsets. I mount my FB 2" below the center of the tank. I've never done a straight through model.

dkryzer, is it possible for the fb and cooker to be at the same level if they were sitting on the ground? does that make since?

jandjbuidasmokerm, I don't understand your question? your Fb will always be lower than your cook chamber
