Is this pellet cooking thread or made in America thread?

Can we get back to pellet cooking?

Exactly. The "made in America" stuff, when it comes to many products these days, is actually a misnomer.

So let's get back to pellet cooking.

I would wager not one single pellet smoker is completely made in the USA. The metal might be fabricated in the US, but most likely the metal came from China, and so did the controller.

You might quite possibly be right in that assessment.

But all American made does sound good and is a great marketing pitch.

If only the price's sounded good for these "Made in the USA" Pellet smokers.

Anyway, off topic, lets get back to the smokers, and how well they produce great Q.

Did some hot wings for a Pot luck dinner this evening. I dusted them with cornstarch and smoked them for 30 min at 200 deg. F. Cooked them for another hour at 350. They came out crispy and almost looked fried.

If you haven't tried the cornstarch on chicken, try it. It worked great!

That looks really good! What temp was it cooked at? Assuming on a stone?

I remember a bit back that there was a request for hopper pics. Had to switch pellets today, so this was a great time to get a couple of shots of the PG1000 and what it looks like.

This is what you get when you fill the hopper and then ignore it. It just feeds nice. There might be 10 (15?)# in the hopper here.

Here's the 25# hopper completely empty.

That is a nice hopper design. If anything, that is one thing most other pellet poopers are lacking. I have not experienced a issue wiith pellet feed, but I am always attending to it, and mixing it around.

yep on a stone bottom grate and another on the top. I set it to 450 and when it got there in 23 min. I temped the stone over 500 I knew it was gonna be too hot for the radiant top heat to get it done correct but I wasn't patient enough to let the stone bottom temp come down

I got other ways to cook pizza but we always make sure to try one on each of our babies

That is a sweet design! Can’t imagine you ever having issues :)

Stainless will always work better than painted , paint will scuff and cause pellets to drag and not feed,a coating of car wax would keep the painted hoppers flowing good,I got the same results trying a pizza in mine, decided to put a stone in just as I wanted to put the pizza in to see how that works ,will have to buy a stone first lol

I picked up a cheap pizza stone at Walmart (less than $15) to try it out. that was about a year ago. I am still using it. It is a good way to see if it works for you at a reasonable price. I still intend on getting a good one. I really like the California Pizza stones, but the shipping to Texas is very expensive.
