Oh man. I might just have to think about that. That thing is too cool.

I think Ronelle should buy(bi) it. Or Willkat.

Arlington Heights is next to Schaumburg and has an Ikea store there.

I am allergic to anything Scandanavian, and therefore avoid Golf Road like the plague

Ummm... Someone has to help me here. In this picture...

I see what looks to be the charcoal grate, but where is the cooking grate? I don't even see anyplace to put one. Or is that wire mesh the food grate and the coals go in the hole underneath it?

Here is the basic design of ceramic cookers.

It looks to missing the fire ring which is a 3 or 4 inch spacer above the bowl-shaped firebox. The cooking grate rests on the fire ring. The charcoal goes in the bowl. The ceramic grate at the bottom are now made from cast iron. That must be the cooking grate shown, it sure looks light duty.

It is missing the fire ring in the pics. The small grate could be use for coals or for a rice pot and searing.

It may not be that good a deal if the fire ring is missing ( @ $100 ) It does appear to be unused and could be a good cooker if all the parts are there. I'm biased because I have both, but you would be better off getting a BGE.

Thanks, guys... It looked like something was missing. The top seems to be missing, too.

I'm not thinking about buying it, just curious. If i brought home another cooker right now both Bill and Greg would be able to see the fireball!

Since it is missing some expensive parts---

That would make a kickass "planter", if it stays in that price range!

Perfect "decor" item for a Brother's BBQ Deck.
Jalepenos for ABTs would look great in it.

I wrote to the seller regarding this exact question. He says the wire grid thing is the cooking grate. He also says all parts are there. Still looks to me like the fire ring is missing and the grate would sit right on the coals. I bid it up a ways, but don't want it unless I could still buy a reasonably priced fire ring for a 42 year old unit.

A #5 Fire ring from Kamado King is $65+ shipping and a Weber grate @ $13. I asked my neighbor that has one like this if his came with small wire grate when he bought it and he said his did not. It could very well be a cooking grate, check out the pre 1976 BGE cookbook/manual page 20 Re: Cooking on Two Levels http://www.nakedwhiz.com/infocentral.htm . If your going to buy it you should probably download the Manual anyway.
This was a Chinese Kamado I rebuilt, the Japanese K is much smoother and the clay is grey colored after firing.

Lately I've seen used ones on CL in the $250 range, and I lost out on one similar last week that was going for $20!! It would be a shame to use it as a planter.
