I'm interested to see how that stainless works after a few onths of cooking...I still want one though..

Nice...the slide air control looks vaguely familiar...but a bit more refined...is it from a BGE?

Yup from a BGE. Other than the ss nuts and bolts, the most expensive part of the build. Lid was $27.00 plus shipping, coal basket free, two grills, one for $8(weber with wings) and one for $5(not weber without wings).

Even more pics

Here are some more pics. At the end I have fired it up and seasoning it. Also playing with the temps:

I put a good load of charcoal in the basket and put about 10 ashed over birqs on top. WOW does that get hot quick!!!! Put both grills on and covered, lid vent wide open and watched temp rise. At 220* I closed the intake vent down and tried to hold between 220 and 250*. Had no luck, temps kept rising. Could it be an ill fitting lid?? Or possible not enough exhaust??? I think I have plenty of intake because I can open it up and the temps go out the roof fast!! I figure I have about 3 square inches of exhaust.

Ideas???

Thanks,

Paul B

That is farking beautiful! Where can I get some SS drums?

It's not where can you get them, but, do you want to pay for them??

The cheapest I found on the net was around $500+!! Super scored and got mine for $5.00 at a garage sale.

Still haven't figured out if SS refers to stainless steel or the fact that it looks like an SS class submarine. Looks good. Gotta find me a yard sale.
