I'm signed up for a local rib competition. I have to supply 10 individual ribs in a 9x9 styrofoam box. It also said that they need to be wrapped in foil. I'm not sure how that is going to work. No garnish allowed. There is a presentation component in the judging.

Any recommendations? Pics of what to do/not to do?

The wrapped in foil rule makes the presentation component difficult to address. Do you know when the presentation score will be given, i.e. while it's foiled, after foil is unwrapped, after it's on the judging plate/mat.

I'd ask for more clarification on exactly what can be presented to the judges and exactly what they are looking for in appearance.

Best of luck to you.

i'm in KCBS land, but i know other sanctioning bodies allow a layer foil only as "garnish" in the boxes.

but, wrapped in foil for presentation sounds odd. how would you see the meat? are they judging how the meat was wrapped? seems strange.

i agree with crash, check with the organizer for clarification.

also, getting 10 ribs neatly arranged in a 9X9 is gonna be difficult. i've only seen 10 once.

^^^ What they said, and welcome to unsanctioned contests...
