Default sauce for a brisket

I am smoking my first brisket today, and I was wondering if there is sauce that completes this meal??

Stubbs Original is good when a brisket doesn't turn out real well; however, when nobody uses the sauce, you know you hit a home run.

Just so you know, you might get other opinions, but you happened to get three Texans answering. Generally speaking, most informed Texans believe that properly smoked brisket needs no sauce. Give no sauce a try.

This may be one of those "definition" kinda things.

To me the term "sauce" can conjure up thoughts of a thick sauce, maybe out of the bottle or whatever.

For beef, I love a "pan sauce" of Au Juis, maybe some of the original rub, or a touch of other flavorings.

Heavenly addition to brisket, chuck, or whatever without changing the flavor. Just enhances it an adds back moisture.

I'll be a contrary Texan. A good sauce on the side can really makes things even tastier. My 3 generations of womenfolk (the main focus of my cooking) like Head Country Original with their brisket so that what is always provided. Have noticed my son & me mostly skip or use very little sauce so maybe it's a male/female taste thing. Would never be offended if somebody asks for sauce, just reply "what kind you want?"

Kinda like good cake doesn't need icing/frosting but that's how they're made at our house and we're happy with the results.

I also enjoy a side of sauce with all my meats, but i think that has alot to do with my area. COuld i eat it without sauce? Yes. Do i particularly want to? No.

Salt lick sauce. It is mustard vinagar based so it wont burn. Baste every hour with the sauce after the first 2 of just smoke. Put a little on the side salt lick sauce is perfect for meat.
