Just ordered my Backwoods party! I will get it on May 3rd and I can't wait. I have been looking through all of the threads, but just wondering any tips for a first timer on a Backwoods? I currently cook offset RF.

A quality product, you will certainly enjoy it.
Charcoal burn time and water refill times are good to work on with some practice cooks .

Creep up on your target temperature - do not overshoot. BWS are so well insulated it is hard to bring the temp down quickly.

build up the charcoal pan with expanded metal walls so you can fit more charcoal in otherwise expect shorter burn times

true, mine overshoots by 10 degrees every startup if I dont get meat in right when I hit temp. I think the guru makes a bigger fire than is needed to hold your ideal temp
