Pictures of what to expect when buying Lazzari Lump
2 - 40# bags of Lazzari Lump by Mark V Warren, on Flickr Open 2 - 40# bags of Lazzari lump by Mark V Warren, on Flickr 1 garbage can of big stuff from 80#'s of lump by Mark V Warren, on Flickr About 6 gallons of smaller lump out of 80#'s by Mark V Warren, on Flickr About 10#'s of waste to throw away out of 80#'s by Mark V Warren, on Flickr I bought these bags at my local Cash & Carry for $13.95 a bag *Note; they were the bags at the bottom of the pallet. most times I don't get but 5#'s of throw away out of 80#'s but always expect between 5 and 12 pounds of throw away from 80#'s of lump. I hope this helps anyone with questions about buying lump. |

what timing
funny you post this now I emptied my 40lb bag yesterday and took a pic of the useless stuff I did not weigh it but its a lot more in my usual bags of other brands. I attribute it to handling, the bags are not very stiff and I am sure a lot of damage came from the shipping all the way to Michigan After seeing this, I am undecided whether I will buy it again or not. I think I will try one more bag and see how that is. I do like the lump very much

Mark, You don't need to throw it out if you have one of these.
Good for searing steaks. |

Too small to waste my time and efforts. I use to save some to add smoke to my Pizza fires because I mostly use 2x4 kiln dried construction pieces for the heat. I like to get the Grill up around 800 degrees for pizza, but I just use some small pieces out of the small can. I go through 80#'s every 2 months $28 so to loose 10#'s is acceptable to me, rather than messing with a choking fire.

i think its near impossible to get lump without some waste. a bigger bag will get you more waste. the price on lazzari is still very good.

I'm puzzled. I buy Lazzari at Cash&Carry too. I pull out the huge lumps, give them a tap with the back of a hatchet to break them down into usable size, then put them into the charcoal basket. I then add some smaller stuff and finally some duff right on top. As long as the ratio is right it all burns just fine. I've never thrown away any. Puzzled why you guys don't do the same.
