You could also get a paint can shaker with some clean, unused paint cans.

Seems like that would do it.

I remember helping my grandmother use a churn when I was a kid. She always had homemade bread, homemade butter and homemade blackberry jelly. Man that was good!

I remember my Mom and Grandmother sitting on the front porch making butter with an old fashioned churn.

There are some things you learn as a child that stay with you forever. Some of these things only have to be experienced once to learn never to repeat them. I remember how pretty the cherry red sides of the pot bellied stove looked. It only took one touch to learn that lesson. The other lessons involved begging to be allowed to help churn butter and turn the crank on the ice cream freezer. None of those experiences were as pleasant as they appeared to be from a distance.

Very cool. Did this by accident once. Had a third of a jar of heavy cream in my backpack. 14 miles later......

Is this cheaper then buying butter? Lets assume $3/lb. Just curious. If its really this easy, what makes "good butter" better then store bought?

I have never had butter made from store bought milk, but without question, if you make it from grass fed cows milk, it tastes better than store butter, or at least the stuff you buy for $3 a lb. Is it cheaper, I doubt it. That would depend on how much you pay for your milk.

We do this a lot. Usually in a mason jar as well. Best butter you ever had. You will want to eat it with a spoon!

That awesome taste will depend on the amount of wild onions or dandelions is in the grass...
