Kids gobble this:
Smothered burgers. Brown some burgers in a skillet. Make a roux in the skillet with onions (or not) and add either milk or beef broth. Re heat the burgers in the gravy. Serve with peas and mashed potatoes.

Frito Pie.
I dropped some off for the communal dinner at Sayville last Friday night. Check with the Swamp Pit and Mineola Fred for reviews.

Frito Pie:
Open a small bag of Fritos Dump in 1/2 can of heated canned chili Cover with sour cream and grated cheddar. Yum. Way kid friendly. Obviously can be scaled up with bigger bags of chips, and homemade chili. x2 on chicken strips. My girls also love grilled steak. They're easy to feed. Also, anything they can help cook ensures they'll eagerly eat it.
