The Outside In Burger
This was my creation for the Fast Food Throwdown. Hope everyone enjoys.
Back in May my g/f and I went on a cruise to Bermuda. We went to a resturant called The Frog and The Onion, and I ordered my "safe" Bacon Cheeseburger. When it comes out I take a big hunking bite. Much to my surprise the burger was filled with peppers and onions. A little insight about me ... I HATE ONIONS!!!!! Thankfully, I ate the bite before I actually looked at the hole in the burger, because if I'd had known I might not have eaten one of the best burgers ever. Once we got back, I got brave and told her that I wanted to try it out at home. We've made this a few times now, and each time they're amazing. Since the Fast Food Throwdown says to make a play on an existing Fast Food Meal. I decided to go a step further. I've seen burgers with cheese on the inside, and in Bermuda, the peppers and onions on the inside. I've never seen everthing from the outside of a bacon cheeseburger on the inside together. A fast food meal isn't complete without some fries, so I also did some home made baked fries with a seasoning I bought last week when I picked up my Porterhouse for the Manly Meat TD. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you THE most amazing burger I've EVER put in my mouth. Start out with the base veggies. Only did 2 potatoes which was more than enough for my g/f and I. I also only used 1/4 of a pepper and onion (again, not being a real big fan of either) Then moved to the frieds, and sprinkled the seasoning on top before throwing in the oven. Once I cooked the bacon. I tore it up, and cut a few slices of Pepper Jack cheese (gives it a better spice flavor) and placed it all on the inside. Then took the half above it and pressed them together. I would have taken a cooking pic, but it gets a little too dark, too early for all that now. So here's the Slice of Life pic of the full plate. I promise you, this taste A MILLION time BETTER than it looks. |

Does look damn good. Wish I had one of those now.
I saw one of the triple d's shows and they were at a ballpark and had a krispy kreme burger. Hard to imagine that the sweetness with the grease and other beef flavors would be good but everyone said they were amazing. May have to give the one you made and the krispy kreme burger a try.

Looks great! I do a similar one, instead of the jack I brush the top with tomato paste. Think meatloaf...
